Timothy Ravenscroft studied piano at the Royal College of Music where he was awarded many prizes, including the prestigious Leonard Borwick Prize. He subsequently gained a scholarship to study at the Vienna Hochschule. There he obtained the Concert Diploma with distinction. On his return to London he continued his studies with Hans Keller. At his debut at the Wigmore Hall he was hailed as ‘a considerable Beethoven player.’
Timothy now pursues a busy career, as a renowned London teacher, concerto soloist, recitalist, and accompanist. As an adjudicator he is regularly invited to the Feis Ceoil, DIT and the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
He has performed concertos with orchestras such as the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, the Salzburg Musici, and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. With the English Piano Trio and other artists he has frequently performed at London’s South Bank Centre and recorded many CDs for Meridian, Kingdom. Naxos and Epoch labels.
Timothy has been a regular recitalist throughout much of the world, particularly in Europe, and also on the concert platform in South America. He has been a regular visitor to Japan, as a soloist and accompanist, and also as a visiting professor of piano. He has performed at all the major concert venues in Tokyo including Opera City and the Bunka Kaikan. He has twice performed the complete Cello Sonatas by Beethoven with the Japanese cellist Yosuke Ozawa. He was recently invited to be pianist in residence in Guildford where he performed the complete cycle of Beethoven Piano Sonatas.
