The English Piano Trio has begun the season with a trip to Germany.  A recital was given in the City Hall, Mainz on Thursday 11th September  to a highly enthusiastic audience.  The Trio gave an all English programme, including the premiere German performance of a Minuet and Trio by Elgar, and a rarely heard Introduction and Allegro by Britten.  They were joined by the singer Yvonne Howard in the German premiere of ‘The Palace of the Winds’ by Joseph Phibbs, and the Trio’s arrangement of Elgar songs. 

The next morning brought enthusiastic reviews:

The English Piano Trio performed recently for the Piano Trio Society at Steinway Hall, London, at which event they presented and performed ‘The Colour of Blossoms’ by Cecilia McDowall. This piece was commissioned by the Trio last year to mark their 20th anniversary, and has captivated audiences with its intense and magical spirit. It was short listed for the British Composers’ Award

The Trio has just returned from a recital for Bude Music Society, where they were enthusiastically received in their performances of Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert.

They make their way to Redditch for a recital on Saturday May 8th for the Music Society. The concert is held at Redditch Ecumenical Centre at 8pm. The programme is Haydn Trio in A Hob. XV:18, Beethoven Trio in C minor op.1 no.3, and Schubert Trio in B flat op.99.

Friday May 14th 7.30pm sees a recital by the English Piano Trio at St James’s Church Piccadilly, W1.

Entitled ‘Musical Vienna’, the Trio presents Haydn Trio in A Hob.XV:18 , Mozart Piano Quartet in G minor K 478, and Schubert Trio in B flat op.99. The viola player Rachel Bolt joins the Trio in the Mozart Piano Quartet.

The Trio has a particular affinity with music of this golden period in Vienna, and chooses three of their favourite works from this time.
